"When we purchased our 30-year-old home with its neglected and uninspiring landscaping, we weren’t sure where to start to improve things. Various landscape designers we consulted recommended extensive re-do of the hardscape and plantings with installation of irrigation throughout the property, all of which were far beyond our budget. Then we met Phyllis Tampio of Garden Artistry. We knew immediately that we could work with Phyllis.

She brought a practical, knowledgeable, and collaborative approach to her design work. She listened carefully to our needs and desires; she helped educate us about desert plants; and she willingly re-worked the plan as we provided feedback on her suggestions. Phyllis has excellent communication skills and kept us informed at every step of the planning and installation process. She didn’t just develop a written and pictorial plan for our landscape; she was present for the entire installation to make sure it was done right. And she has maintained contact after completion to monitor the health of the new plants and to make suggestions for additional affordable enhancements to our outdoor living space. We are absolutely thrilled with the results of Phyllis’s design genius. Our home’s yard is now admired by neighbors and we are proud to be a model for others to imitate. "

About Garden Artistry

Phyllis Sadler-Tampio, Landscape Designer in TucsonPersonal Profile:
Phyllis Sadler-Tampio

During a 25 plus year career in operations and business management I built gardens in Rhode Island, Maryland, New York and here in Tucson as a part time venture.  Additionally, I worked as a consultant offering business services to new businesses working from start-up, to growth and development, hiring, training, goal setting, customer service and managing financial reports.  I have worked on a local, regional and national level.

When my husband and I moved in 2004 from the east coast to our dream home here in Tucson one of the most exciting opportunities for me was to explore dessert gardening.  So in 2010, I combined all of my previous experience to open Garden Artistry as a full time custom landscape design business.  In May of 2014 I was very proud to have Garden Artistry featured in Tucson Lifestyle magazine.

Community Profile:

Within the community, I am an officer on the local board of the APLD which is the national landscape designers association.  At the Tucson Botanical Gardens where I am a docent, I have actively been involved with writing Signature Classes. I teach Plants for Seasonal Residents, Successful Plants and Xeriscape Gardening.   I was honored to be chosen docent of the year in 2014 and am very proud to serve as a volunteer at this wonderful local treasure.
